Is usually MMA Eradicating Boxing?

Over the previous years, MMA events like the UFC have been gaining serious ground over Boxing. Evidence of that is the fact that last year UFC pay-per-view events raised more money than boxing events.

Boxing has been around the mainstream for as longs as I can recall with great fighters like Gorge Foreman, Mike Tyson, and Evander Holyfield not to mentions the legends like Muhammed Ali, Rocky Marciano and many others who made boxing one of their most prestigious sports there is.

I’m a massive boxing fan myself but unfortunately over the past five years, it dropped the glamour and the prestige that after made boxing a sport to watch. I can’t recall how many nights I stayed up until 5 or 4 in the morning waiting to see Tyson fight.

That is one the biggest difficulty with boxing these days there aren’t many idols like before. Request any 20 years old these days who’s their favourite boxer; I’ll be amazed if they say any.

Now go and ask the same 20 year who is their favorite MMA fighter and I bet he will state:” Out Of UFC or Strikeforce, in what category?”

In its early days, MMA events were believed brutal and no TV station needed to broadcast its fights reddit ufc stream. What exactly caused them to change their minds? What affects everything is sports these days, MONEY.

When it all started the only way to see UFC fights was by leasing videotapes now you’ve got cable stations dedicated specifically for MMA and the main events can only be watched on pay-per-view. MMA merchandising power has grown tremendously and surpassed boxing, the reason it’s gained so much exposure recently.

There is even a reality series called The Ultimate Fighter which is in its 13th edition, where amateur Mixed Martial Arts fighters fight to become professional. Hence the fact that many fighting in UFC these days has come out of the reality show.

Even renowned boxing gear brands are making MMA gear which is moor proof of their merchandising electricity MMA has these days. Just for the record when Dana White purchased the UFC from the Gracie Family, it had been worth 2 million Dollars today it’s a two billion dollar business.

But that is not the only reason MMA is much more popular than boxing these days.

This generation can be more dynamic with great eagerness for action and MMA struggles to deliver just that. While boxing may get rather boring sometimes, 12 rounds without a knockdown can be dull, to say the very least.
